Jakarta - After a long wait, finally for the first time in the world, Honda Japan chose Indonesia as the first country (world premiere) is to introduce its first cheap MPV, Honda Mobilio Concept at IIMS 2013. Touted this car specifically developed for the Indonesian market, which can accommodate seven passengers, which is predicted to be very popular with the public.
The styling, however, is far more aggressive. The nose, especially the headlights and the grille, are clearly Brio-like, but the car is sat on a block-like base, put there in an effort to disguise the otherwise odd dimensions. Gaping large inlets are present in the front and rear bumper, the designers have used a kink in the window line to visually reduce the length of the car and big wheel arches have also been used to further accentuate this.
The heavily flared wheel arch at the rear, with its central ridgeline, is in fact likely to be the talking point of this car. The sketch also reveals a very interesting ‘floating D pillar’ that hovers above the shoulder line. It however remains to be seen if this feature makes it to production.
Seven-passenger capacity power, Honda Mobilio concept has a long dimension of 4,390 meters which is the ideal size to create a roomy cabin, but not difficult when parking. Also high 185 mm ground clearance and long wheelbase of 2,650 meters.
MPV is equipped with I-Vtec engine capacity of 1.5 liter that can generate power 118 PS and maximum torque of 14.4 NM. Provided 5 speed manual transmission and a CVT automatic.
"For the first time, this is the Honda Mobilio Concept!," Said Takanobu Ito, President and CEO of Honda Motor Corp., which accidentally comes to introducing Honda Mobilio Concept at IIMS 2013 in Jakarta, today (19/9).
Honda Mobilio Concept is a car that will be produced in Indonesia and became the first product of the new Honda plant in Karawang, West Java, which will be priced at around the price range of Rp.150-180 million.
