Voltcom Crescent reveals 2014 Suzuki GSX-R1000

Crescent Suzuki has pulled the wraps off the bike that will be campaigned by Eugene Laverty and Alex Lowes in this year's World Superbike Championship season,

The machine was launched during a public launch evening at Crescent Motorcycles base in Verwood, with riders Laverty and Lowes on hand to pull the wraps off the GSX-R1000, which will compete under the Voltcom banner in 2014 after the company agreed to assume title backing.

An all-new rider line-up for Crescent Racing, with 2013 WSBK runner-up Laverty being joined by British Superbike Champion Lowes, the Yoshimura-powered GSX-R1000 adopts a striking blue, white and red livery for its 2014 campaign.

Crescent Racing assumed Suzuki's entry for the World Superbike Championship in 2012, but the GSX-R1000 hasn't won a World Superbike race since 2010 when Leon Haslam triumphed at Kyalami en route to second position in the overall standings.

Ex-Crescent Suzuki rider turned TV presenter James Haydon oversaw proceedings, as Team Manager Paul Denning introduced the audience to his star line-up for 2014. Laverty and Lowes revealed their targets for the season ahead before uncovering the Yoshimura-powered GSX-Rs they will use to begin their challenge against some of the world’s best racers in a fortnight’s time. Shining in its blue, white and red design, the Suzuki GSX-R1000 was well received by all present and revealed the Voltcom Group logo, the team’s new title sponsor for the 2014 season.

The evening event provided the opportunity for the Voltcom Crescent Suzuki squad to introduce the team’s new sponsors and allowed the audience to gain an insight into the two racers spearheading this year’s challenge. A question-and-answer session led by Haydon preceded a meet-and-greet autograph and photo opportunity for the attending fans, while the Crescent Motorcycles' staff were on hand with numerous retail offers across the Suzuki range of machines and merchandise.

Voltcom Crescent Suzuki will now prepare to travel to Australia ahead of the opening round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island on 23rd February and the official pre-season test commencing on the 17th February.

Eugene Laverty:

"The atmosphere at the 2014 team launch was fantastic! Our entire Voltcom Crescent Suzuki team really want to win and the fans have been incredibly supportive. I enjoyed seeing our bike in the new livery for the first time. My mind is on Round One now as we're geared up and ready to go racing."

Alex Lowes:

“It has been a really successful evening for the whole Voltcom Crescent Suzuki squad. The support from the fans has been brilliant and, in its new colours, the Yoshimura-powered GSX-R is going to be one of the nicest looking bikes on the 2014 World Championship grid. I can’t wait to get to Phillip Island now, get out on track and in the thick of the action.”
